Österreich, 18th August 2024 – The curtain comes down on the Austrian GP, an event where the Prima Pramac Racing riders were the protagonists of a great show.
After a great start, Jorge Martín defended first position for the initial part of the race. Today, Pecco Bagnaia had something extra, and he overtook Martinator, who tried until the end to reclaim the victory. This second place in the race resulted in a second place in the Championship for the Spaniard, who is now only five points behind Bagnaia, the current leader, and 56 of advantage on the third, Enea Bastianini.
Franco Morbidelli made a fantastic race start, moving from eighth position to third place at the very beginning. However, a contact with Marc Márquez at the first corner of the first lap saw Morbido go off the racing line, rejoining the race in 18th position. Author of a consistent series of overtakes, Franco ended the race in eighth position, finally showing his best form and great consistency.
The Prima Pramac Racing team now has one week of break before heading to Spain. From the 30th of August to the 1st of September, the MotoGP™ World Championship celebrates the Gran Premio GoPro de Aragón.
Jorge Martín, Prima Pramac Racing rider – Race, P2
"It was a difficult race, and I gave my maximum to catch Pecco. I made a good start asking everything of my front tyre, but the temperature was high and difficult to manage. Even though I love this track, today Pecco had something extra, so he gained five points in the Championship. Now it’s time to analyse our work and improve for the upcoming races".
Franco Morbidelli, Prima Pramac Racing rider – Race, P8
"I had a good start, but then the contact with Marc Márquez radically changed my race. Recovering from 18th place wasn’t easy, but I had enough speed to overtake several riders. I’m happy with the speed we had and with the feelings I experienced. I hope to qualify better in Aragón and in the following races".
